My Holidays

My holidays

The first week of my holidays was so boring, basically all week I just sat on the couch and watched tv or played on the computer all day, I also did some chores like hang out the washing, folded the washing, did the dishes and that’s pretty much it. On the last Friday of the first week went to Nicole’s and helped her move house and we also went to town and I got my haircut. After that Nicole and I went to the Caltex to get a slushy then we walked to the Two Fish cafe' for lunch.

That weekend I had to look after my little brother and my little cousin it was so dumb I took them to the holiday programme so they could have a ride on the horses and they seemed to enjoy it, then we went home and we had an Easter hunt before lunch. When the babies were having their lunch we sat down and watched a movie I can’t remember the name of it.

On Sunday my uncle and aunty came over to stay with us and we went to the beach and went out on our boat it was pretty fun. And on Tuesday my little sister and I caught the bus to Hamilton to stay with my Nan and Pop. The first day there we went to Chartwell Square and went shopping I got a new skirt and a belt from supre ( http://www.supre.com.au/(ehj5v0550wvc2lbppastau45)/Default.aspx) for my early birthday present. The next day we went back to chartwell to the movies and we went and saw Seventeen again( http://17againmovie.com/), it was a pretty cool movie too. The following days we basically just went shopping and bought heaps of new stuff. Saturday was finally here and Makaera and I caught the bus back to Opotiki were my dad picked us up and took us home.

HOW A KITE FLIES

A kite is heavier than air, so to fly it needs lift, an upward force from the wind that is greater than the pull of the gravity keeping it on the ground. For maximum lift, position the face at the correct angle to the wind (the angle of attack) by setting the ring accurately on the bridle.

The best point for the ring is usually a third of the way down the kite, but small adjustments can be made for varying winds. Even with the bridle pre-set, the angle of attack changes after launch, until the kite reaches its most efficient flying position.

Preparing to fly
It is best to fly a kite on a flat, open site, which is free of obstructions, such as trees, buildings and overhead cables. If there are other flyers around – as there will be at festivals – choose the clearest part of the sky for launching the kite. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a force wind to make a kite fly: light moderate breezes are the best, although some kites such as heavy boxes or more robust stunters, are designed for stronger winds. Always assess the wind speed before launching a kite.

Stunt kites
Controlling a stunt in even a more basic manoeuvre adds another dimension to kite flying. Once a single line is launched, you can enjoy the spectacle, whereas a stunter needs constant steering to stay in the sky. As a rule, the kite lines should be 45-60m long. Although you may want to shorten them as you become more experienced; the shorter lines, the quicker your reactions will have to be. If this is your first attempt at flying a stunter, get the feel of the kite before trying any moves.

Materials and equipment
Most of the materials are available from the specialist kite stores and mail order companies, although mountaineering can be a good source of tapes and thick climbing rope. The choice of materials depends on the type of kite you are making. Fibreglass rod, for example is ideal for the flexible bow of a fighter, although inappropriate for the rigid frame of a box kit, where dowel is the best. Kite making equipment can generally be found around the home: some tools, such as a circle cutter, give quick, accurate results but are not essential.

My Holiday

In my holidays I like going to visit my friends in Raglan because I only really get to see them once a year. I moved from Raglan when I was ten so I enjoy going back there and visiting them. I also like spending time with my family on our boat, and hanging out with my mates in my spear time. When I am board I like getting a good book and sitting in my room and reading it.

Keyboarding Experience!!

keyboarding so far has been good. I have been doing speed tests and i started with a speed of 10 words per minute and now i am doing up to 45 words per minute which is pretty good for me because i am a quite slow at typing. It has been pretty hard learning to use the right fingers on the right keys but i am getting better at it. Anyway over all i think keyboarding has been good and hope to learn more things from it.

Setting up my blog!!

setting up my blog has been pretty good so far, some things have been a little complicated but im getting the hang of it. I think blogs are cool because you get to post your ideas and thoughts about everything and share them with other people all around the world.
